Our doctors visited 2 hospitals in the south-east of Zambia in Katondwe and Mpanshyi. These hospitals accept patients from the area corresponding to 4 Polish voivodeships and are the only ones in this area. As it turned out, the needs there are huge, and the medical problems are completely different from those in Rwanda. In addition to malaria, which is quite common throughout sub-equatorial Africa, medical workers in Zambia struggle with injuries inflicted by wild animals living in the African bush, such as crocodiles and hippos. Due to the poor quality of local roads, traffic injuries are also a significant problem. Surprisingly, there is no orthopedist in any of these hospitals!!!
We really hope that with your participation we will be able to help at least some of the most needy.
